The new Raspberry Pi Compute Development Kit enables design engineers

to harness the power of the Raspberry Pi for embedded applications.

 



  • Small and Powerful. SODIMM sized (6.5cm by 3cm) Raspberry Pi board contains the BCM2835 chip with 512MB RAM with an on board 4GB eMMC Flash memory for booting the OS.
  • Flexible and Rapid Prototype Development. A fully functional IO board is part of the development kit which supports an extensive GPIO and multiple connectors to help foster rapid prototype development with access to all of the BCM2835 functionality.
  • Custom Hardware and Software Solutions. Benefit from fully functional Linux server running on your ‘design-in’ hardware solution. This unique combination of services will help define the next generation of the ‘Internet of Things’

    Its just who develops an IO-board first, with only ethernet, GPIO (USB?) and power (on the same side). Sadly not me, Id really like to test them!

    Where did you learn this? I would really like to have this ability, but I wasn't able to find any mention of a second SD interface in the BCM2835 datasheet or the Compute Module announcement. Booting from eMMC and using external SD for data would be good for a project I have in mind.

    +1 on to when can we pre-order

     

    Also, how do you program the on board eMMC?  At least with a standard card you can put it into a standard machine.

    this is the best news i've heard all day, it would be cake to connect an sdcard to gpio. any chance we can get someone to confirm that this would be possible?

     

    myself though, i like the idea of having the 4gb onboard for os and programming and then being able to add a large capacity sdcard for data storage. (i've got me an idea see)

     

    regarding alternate booting though it does say on page 3 of the schematic "BCM2835 will fail to boot from eMMC if EMMC_DISABLE_N is LOW and will therefore fall back to booting from USB." so you should at least be able to use usb.

     

    by any chance could ethernet/wifi also be made available through gpio?
