All you need to do then is use some sort of Terminal Emulator - I use Putty (available for free!). Open a terminal connection, boot up the Pi and you have instant terminal access from your PC !

RE: Look Ma, no display: Using the Raspberry Pi serial console

Great tips

RE: Look Ma, no display: Using the Raspberry Pi serial console

A cheaper alternative is, using a cell-phone usb cable: [View:/resized-image/__size/16x16/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-53db3876-34e8-4cbd-bb23-ed02a75bfa58/7041.contentimage_5F00_1.png:16:16]

http://www.agri-vision.nl/CMS/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=32

RE: Look Ma, no display: Using the Raspberry Pi serial console

FYI - the Raspberry Pi serial cable from Adafruit simplifies connecting to the console over what I show above:

http://www.adafruit.com/blog/2012/08/02/new-product-usb-to-ttl-serial-cable-debug-console-cable-for-raspberry-pi-raspberrypi-raspberry_pi/

Available from Newark:

http://www.newark.com/adafruit-industries/954/usb-to-ttl-serial-console-cable/dp/44W3509?Ntt=44W3509

and Farnell:

http://uk.farnell.com/adafruit-industries/954/usb-ttl-serial-cable-raspberry/dp/2215041
