Also, most of the helpful links to the CooCox site are dead. I don't know if they are out of business or what. Fortunately git hub is forever. And there is also some good information here on element14.

Just for fun, I revisited this today and was able to get it to work with a RasPi 3.

I had to run raspi-config and select serial in Advanced

i had to edit /boot/cmdline.txt and remove console=serial0,115200

then edit

/boot/config.txt

and add

dtoverlay=pi3-disable-bt

to the end of the file

and edit the supplied stm32loader.py

and change references to ttyAMA0 to serial0

although there is a bug in their command line

in both their gcc commands they have

gcc -mcpu=cortex-m3-mthumb

it should be

gcc -mcpu=cortex-m3 -mthumb

i revisited this because
