Stuart,

First there was the University of Southampton and now this fantastic project by the University of Glasgow's School of Computing Science.

I think there is a tendency for readers to jump to the conclusion when the word "fantastic"

is used to describe such a project, especially in connection with the words "affordable",

"working", "available", that the project is more than just a publicity stunt and might have

some practical value.

However, when you read the project's blog, you see that instead of words like "fantastic",

they themselves use words like "really appalling".

"I hear that hadoop is incredibly slow on pi from various blog posts, and yes pls lower your hope as the speed is really appalling. But it is very interesting to see how slow it can be on the pi."
