The USB 2.0 standard clamps to 500mA. The design requires more than that, up to 750mA at least, to be available.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I would not expect Micro USB to handle 2A or tension. Obviously, nowhere near as robust as the 1/10&amp;#39;th pitch pin headers. 1/10&amp;quot; is overkill for GPIO alone.
