Gertboard availability?

I have just had this reply from Farnell:

" Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately we are not taking any new orders for the Gertboard at present as this one is going discontinued. We have a new Gertboard that will be launched shortly updates on this will be available through the element14 website."

AFAIK it's only just been released so are Farnell right, or are they behind the times ?

Hard to have hope of getting one when I cant even buy one.

Why does the one in stock have a different part number?

In the US when I attempt to source the Gertboard on the E14 site I get:

Thanks for your interest in the Gertboard.
Due to overwhelming popularity, we have sold out and will no longer be accepting orders. However, we will have additional new and exclusive products coming very soon. We will be announcing the details as soon as they become available on the element14 community's Raspberry Pi group which can be found at www.element14.com/raspberrypi

Same here, first mail that it was available and in the evening at home while ordering NOT AVAILABLE!
Same with Adafruit Cobler!
This is sad, this will delay my projects quite a lot.
But anyway thanks for great tool for all!

Kind of final answer just posted as an announcement by Element14.

Gertboard no longer available, sold out and it seems they will not produce more of them.

I'm afraid I seem to have further bad news regarding my order for the Gertboard here in the UK. I received the following email:

"Hi there

Sorry to disappoint, we have decided to remove the Gertboard from sale. Don’t worry we are planning on producing a fully assembled board but this will not be available for another few weeks. So with this we have cancelled your order for the Gertboard.

If you go to www.element14.com

We shall release information about the forth coming release and not to mention other technical related issues.

The "few weeks" may be better news than the 60 to 90 days I was told on the phone so maybe not as bad news as first thought, but it is sadly too long for my current project timescales so I must use an Arduino (probably in combination with the Raspberry Pi !) which kind of defeats a number of my objectives
