After having examined it, the conclusion is that the board is fantastic with a rich set of function

RE: Sleepy Pi Overview

Hello Shabaz,

You said the schematic was open source? Partly this is due to the postal stupidity in the UK where you now need a 10 quid courier delivery for a 50p battery, but also because it's fairly easy to get CR2032's as they're much more commonly used that other sizes. I can get them at my local newsagent for example..

Second, did you try to remove the battery from the holder ? I use that same style of holder for 2032's and it takes a significant amount of force to get the battery out. Some people will find they need an (insulated) tool to lever them out. So I'm doubtful of the need to tie the the battery in.

Two things I'd have liked:

1. a connection to the rev 2 Pi's reset connection

2. both reset and power on/off available on headers rather than only switches

the first of these lets the AVR be an external watchdog, the second means you can have full external control.

The switching regulator with a wide input range was something the Pi could have done with from day one, but as the Sleepy Pi actually costs more than the Pi itself, I think it's understandable that the RPF didn't add all of these features.

RE: Sleepy Pi Overview

Shabaz

Nice writeup, and the features are exactly what I had planned for my Remote Web camera, but needed quite a few boards and connections to achieve.

Jonathon has done very well, and anyone wanting one should head here. http://spellfoundry.com/products/sleepy-pi/

Mark
