(note that I didn't say that this was a good idea, just an idea)

Basically a garden rake/lute with wheels (or skids) either end that can be automatically raised or lowered so as to try to keep the head of the rake level in use, using an accelerometer as reference. A LED pixel strip along the head of the rake to act as a spirit level bubble to indicate how far off level it is.

One of the challenges would perhaps be how to keep the dirt out of the actuators, so I was thinking of some sort of dirt tolerant linkage to raise and lower the wheels rather than a direct drive.

It would likely need some user controls to set how much bite the rake is allowed to have into the ground and to temporarily retract the wheels when you need roughly pull more soil/sand/compost from a mound into place before getting back to the levelling.

RE: Raspberry Pi Project What do I do next? WiFi / Bluetooth would allow you wireless connectivity to a laptop or or other device for remote control or data transfer.

It could be a level type device with accelerometers for detecting if the instrument is plumb and machine vision for reading the measuring staff; a transit type device using encoders to measure Az/El angles; a EDM using range laser finder; or even a self-propelled robot for mapping out an area autonomously. The later could also be used in reverse as a marking out tool.

Would make for a nice educational type project as well as a survey tool.

RE: Raspberry Pi Project What do I do next?
Often there is a need these days for people to be able to produce higher quality video content but without the need for a studio or technical support.

RE: Raspberry Pi Project What do I do next?
