In the parent repository, I enabled two automations:

The first one will automatically do the branch merge, one a pull request passed code review. No admin work needed.
The second option deletes the head (=source) branch. We suggest that once a branch is merged, its life has been lived and should be deleted. This option does that automatically, unless the branch is protected, or the pull request creator does not have the authority.
