What products does the Raspberry Pi Compute Module Development Kit contain?

The kit contains the following products:

- 1 x Raspberry Pi Compute Module IO Board
- 1 x Raspberry Pi Compute Module
- 1 x Raspberry Pi Display & Camera Adapter
- 1 x 5V Micro USB Power Supply
- 1 x Micro USB Data Cable
- 4 x jumper wires

Is it possible to operate the Compute Module independently of the Development Kit?

The Compute Pi Module contains only the BCM2835 processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB eMMC flash memory. There are no peripherals on the SODIMM module. The engineer needs to custom develop his peripheral interface board that will use the SODIMM Module.

Can I access the Broadcom processor?

There is no engineering development access to the BCM2835 processor and no custom drivers can be written to interface directly with the processor. This module is intended for use by customers that want to use the Raspberry Pi computer within their end product – EG. a product that runs a Linux end user application running within the Raspbian Linux operating system.

What is the purpose of the Display and Camera Adapters in the Development Kit?

These adapters are used to connect a standard Raspberry Pi camera board or Raspberry Pi display to the Compute Module IO Board. There is one display and one camera adapter provided within the kit.

What type of designs is the Development Kit appropriate for?

The flexibility of the Compute Module Development Kit means the Compute Module could be designed in to multiple types of application e.g.:

Will I be able to buy the Compute Module and IO Board separately?

At launch the Compute Module IO board is only sold as part of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module Development Kit.

The Compute Module will be available for sale separately later in the summer
