Announcement: Introducing the Reliable RoadTester Badge in November

Hi All.

I wanted to make a brief announcement about something we are rolling out in November.

We will be adding a Reliable Roadtester Badge to all the other badges a member can earn on the element14 community.

The badge is our way of saying Thank You to the roadtesters. We wanted to officially recognize those member who have really put fantastic efforts into doing roadtests.

This badge will be automatically awarded when a member completes and publishes three roadtest reviews on the official roadtest review form.

If you have completed 3 roadtest reviews already, you will be awarded the badge automatically.

Thanks.

I have been suggesting this approach for road testers for many years. DAB

No one is going to shame people. But a roadtester has to realize that while we do not on element14 conduct official "peer reviews," which are common in the scientific and technical circles, element14 does…

I believe that the comments section of each roadtest is where the community can provide feedback to an individual roadtester. The feedback can range from compliments for a very good review, to suggestions on how to improve a review. I generally think this approach has worked. As I read all the applications of every roadtest, I also read the reviews. I also have to submit the reviews to the supplier which we talk about. When supplier questions arise about a review I will contact the reviewer for clarification.

While I do not expect perfection from first time roadtesters, I do think first time roadtesters many times need mentoring. While I do give tips to first time roadtesters on how to improve, I also rely on the help of experienced roadtesters or knowledgeable members of the community to provide suggestions for improvement. I think this is generally happening.

Writing a roadtest review is definitely an acquired skill; the more one does them, the better they get.
