Continuation of MAX31889EVSYS RoadTest- Part One

27 Apr 2021

Previously in fall 2020, I was selected to roadtest the MAX31889EVSYS. However, I was unable to fully test the system due to a lack of a device running Windows 10(at the time, I had only a windows 10 VM and windows 7 devices).

I have recently acquired a Windows 10 device and I plan on re-evaluating the Evaluation Kit based off new results.

After uploading the code via drag and drop to the MAX32630FTHR, and connecting it to my computer(no DAPLINK necessary!)

Maxim's Evaluation Tool was able to immediately detect the connected device and get readings from it. I have placed the device into my fridge which is set to 37 degrees F(3 degrees C). It is rapidly cooling to the temperatures the fridge claims.

As shown, the Low Threshold has been triggered once the readings have fell below 50F.

At around 43 Degrees, I have begun to test out File Logging.

Originally, logging was set to once per second. I allowed the board to log for around half an hour.

As you can see, time(s) is increasing in only increments of one.

Later, I tested out increments of 5 seconds, and as you can see:

File logging works very well.

It looks like for microSD logging it requires a Lipoly battery. I am unsure of where my crimps + connectors are, so I cannot at this time complete that test. I will try to purchase some bare MAX31889 chips…

I will try to purchase some bare MAX31889 chips for experimenting and post my progress here.
