Ouch! Two vendors and two documentation sites. Hopefully you came out of the experience with all your hair and not pulling it out in frustration.

Enjoyed reading your approach for the evaluation. Look forward to follow-up.

What would you recommend as a skill level to tackle such an evaluation?

This is a RoadTest I considered applying. On reflection I'm not sure if I would have had the skills set to achieve what you have so far, even though it is just setting up the demo. I'm curious at what you think would be ideal for skill set.

This is one of the dullest websites I have ever seen! I actually typed the address in twice because I mistakenly thought this was a "404 page not found" error when the browser first loaded it up.
after a while, I eventually realise that I'm supposed to click on "eu.industrial.panasonic.com". maybe I'm a bit slow?

As a fellow road tester I had the same reaction/response. I've yet to figure out why they would make that the landing page for a product. As you say it's dull and IMHO a bad place to geofence web-based information. It's not end-user friendly as I needed to decide if I wanted the "blue pill" (EU website info) or the "red pill" (US website info). Being curious I had to click on each just to see what the differences were...

Anyway, it's nice to read through your learning process and you proved a point (to me anyway) that for someone not familiar with Nordic SDK and nRF52840 this is a good dev kit to start with.

I have the benefit of having gone through the initial learning phase with a previous dev kit, which did not have preconfigured leds and buttons aligned to the SDK and it made it trickier to get familiar with things as needed to change the example pin names etc.

Good road test report.

Recording the time needed to use new boards is an important aspect of road testing I hope more testers do and report.

When faced with making project decisions you always have two different things pulling your decision tree.

First there is the desire to learn new things and use new products.

Second there is the raw cost of learning about the new things and deciding if they fit your product.

I have seen many projects needlessly delayed because a new thing was not ready to be used, but my engineers tried anyway.

I had to remind my engineers that there is no such thing as a free change! Everything that delays the projects is a cost.
