It actually looks like they just used the same body from the Keysight Technologies U1461A Insulation Resistance Tester that I looked at before, which makes it chunky but robust and reliable. It will stay nicely propped on its stand on a desk because of the weight, with the IR to USB cable attached, without any great risk from (or of) toppling over. A key benefit of this particular case design is the protection against drops and the IP67 rating which makes it dust and weatherproof.

I think some decimal points are missing in your dimension specification. With 101 cm this multimeter would be humongous.
