I was quite interested to see how the software performed. The addition of remote data-logging and graphing features would add a lot of extra value to me.

Unfortunately it looks like the software doesn't match the hardware, which is all too often the case with test gear.

You got a lot further than I would have.

My current frustration levels are very low and I have little tolerance for idiot error messages.

It's always challenging when you are writing software that uses 3rd party tools when generating reports and then the user deliberately chooses to ignore the "required" message.

I would have marked it down much more harshly than you but that's part of why I never rate anything with a 10 (I've not seen perfection yet !!).

More seriously - although Keysight are responsible for putting out a less than friendly bit of software i wonder if this is in some ways more about the slow motion failure of Windows in the technical computing area.

15 years ago you could have coded this in VB and it would probably have installed and worked on pretty much any reasonably current Windows machine. Now we have the monstrously complicated mess of .Net and a whole load of other "technologies" which are resulting in the kind of error messages you've kindly shared.

Although I use a lot of programmable instruments I write code that talks to them as directly as possible - I've had little joy with any of the general purpose PC software from instrument and test gear suppliers although some of the stuff on the instruments themselves is very good.
