There is a &quot;fancy chip&quot; on the board but it&#39;s just used as an I2C to USB bridge and to quote Gagan, <em>&quot;The PSoC device on this board (PSoC 5LP) comes factory-programmed as a Programmer and Debugger. It currently can not be used standalone.&quot;</em></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The configuration can be uploaded to an MBR3 chip and then the MBR3 can be used by itself, so I&#39;m not really sure how a &quot;dev kit&quot; would work in this case, for prototyping you&#39;d really need to start making PCBs as the routing of the wiring is important. The MBR3 does not need a microcontroller so you could even have the GPOs driving transistors to turn on and off a larger load.</p><img src="https://community.element14.com/aggbug?PostID=18050&AppID=14&AppType=Weblog&ContentType=0" width="1" height="1">
