I always considered such a comparison very interesting and useful, a

RE: PolarFire FPGA Kit RoadTest Part 2 - Microchip/Microsemi vs AMD/Xilinx

Most of my FPGA experience is with devices that have less than 25K LUTs, so the two FPGAs compared here seem so high end. I am especially impressed with the FMAX figures, especially when you consider how large the test designs were.

RE: PolarFire FPGA Kit RoadTest Part 2 - Microchip/Microsemi vs AMD/Xilinx

Nice overview and comparison.

Naturally I am used-to the Xilinx tools and find it inconvenient to move to another. I do wonder sometimes though how would the experience of implementing same designs on another vendor's FPGAs would be. In particular, I find HLS very convenient for video processing designs, and also the fact that a lot of the basic building block IPs are available for free, which is very good since any FPGA IP license will cost at-least 5-10k$ as per my knowledge. I also like the block design approach in putting a design together at the higher level. I would be interested in knowing your thoughts in this regard, based on your experience so far.

RE: PolarFire FPGA Kit RoadTest Part 2 - Microchip/Microsemi vs AMD/Xilinx

Interesting comparison.
