&lt;p&gt;I think the velocity of propagation is affected by the dk (dielectric constant) of the material insulating the wires. If that&amp;#39;s right, you will see variation between cables.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Having said that, your figure does seem slow. Can you identify the manufacturer and the type code of the cable? &lt;p&gt;I remember when I first started working with computers in the 1970&amp;#39;s they were lots of information on the backplanes of the computer chassis about how they tuned each buss line as a transmission line to reduce reflections at 1 MHz.&lt;/p&gt;
