I nice teardown and analysis. I did something similar on their ZigBee controlled Hue bulbs a while ago - but more to see if they could be repurposed to control different lights.

Rarely for an LED bulb, it actually has a lot of glass!

I wonder if they aren't reusing the existing bodies that would be used for other lamps.

Obviously they've had to fit a new front cover and the lens is probably to narrow the beam width down.

The beam width of LED's has been another problem as we have some 50mm Dycrohics mounted beside the bed, and they are 10 deg lamps to reduce light spill.

Trying to find LED alternatives is impossible.

I suspect that the right upper part of the schematics can be redrawn to look like a traditional Buck converter layout ...

It would be interesting to see what the IR emission is compared to the visible light emission.

Was there a spectral plot in the datasheet for the sensor?

It is always good to see what is inside things, and you seem to constantly deliver on that for E14 - thank you.

The PCB does look well made and populated, which is good to see. I doubt some of the unbranded clones are as well made.
