We use PD monitoring on our high voltage motors to predict when we need to do maintenance — Or replace the motor. With power companies implementing interruptible power contract for industry, our motors get shut down often, and then restarted, which reduces their usable life.

RE: Tektronix 3 Series MDO - Part 3: Partial Discharge Analysis

Donald,

Another great entry in your Tektronix Series 3 MDO roadtest series. Using arbitrary waveform generators is typically quite difficult. It would be much easier to use a mathematical description language to build waveforms as opposed to editting CSV files. I once wrote a scripting language to do a similar task (unfortunately, I can't seem to find any of this work on my computer). Matlab might be able to do something similar.

Keep up the good work!

Gene
