Very good review.

I agree with your observations that turn on time to use should be very quick.

In my day, even with 5-10 seconds to heat the tubes, we had usable display quickly.

I look forward to seeing your more detailed review once you get the options available.

This trick of not including basic triggering options in the price makes most of the big name MSOs really poor value compared with a straight scope and a cheap logic analyzer. I hadn't spotted the Tek silliness of only allowing two at a time - AFAIK all the others just install the option and it works all the time without a plug in thing. It's a shame because it is often very useful to have some analogue traces mixed in with the digital.

The long boot up time is dreadful - even my Windows scopes (LeCroys) are faster than that !

Based on your observations I'd only have given it 4 out of 10 for 'performed to expectations' - if I buy from a big name brand I expect the thing to work properly - 2 minutes boot up and obvious bugs is NOT what I'd expect from Tek.

BTW - I'm really pleased that there are no videos !! (I HATE technical videos (if only there were letters even more upper case than upper case !!)).

You lucky person Jessie ThunderSqueak and a nice write up.

If you seen all my articles you'll notice that I've got an MSO2024 (but not the newer B version that you reviewed.).

I have the additional protocol decoding options.

My rating is 58/60 because it is missing protocol decoding options for OWP, the plastic surrounds on the BNC connectors come loose and fall off and you can only have two of the three protocol decoding options installed at anytime.

Another observation is that many of the more specialised probes cost as much as or more than the MSO.

Did you connect the MSO2024B to a PC and have you posted any videos of your RoadTest?

Can you describe more in detail the signal sources used for testing and something about the response time and stability of the readings? Tanks.
