Agilent 33522B 30MHz 2-Channel Waveform Generator with Arbitrary Waveform Generation

Table of contents

Agilent’s 33500B Series waveform generators with exclusive Trueform signal generation technology offer more capability, fidelity and flexibility than traditional DDS generators. Easily generate the full range of signals you need to test your devices with confidence the signal generator is outputting the signals you expect with 12x less jitter and 5x less harmonic distortion.  Take advantage of deep memory (1M points standard and optional 16M points) and waveform sequencing.  Two-channel models allow you to use the channels independently or sync them in time, amplitude or both.
Q&A
What we would like to see in the road test?
Applications that take advantage of our Trueform technology. Some examples:
  • Applications that use multiple waveforms; sine waves, square waves, pulses, or custom waveforms.
  • Applications requiring low harmonic distortion sine waves
  • Applications that need pulses or square waves with low jitter.
  • Applications that need point-by-point arbitrary waveform capability – more accurate user defined waveforms.
  • Applications requiring deep memory or can take advantage of sequencing to create user defined waveforms.
  • An application that uses IQ signals or needs to output a data pair. E.g. A dual channel custom waveform
Are there certain application areas we would like folks working on?
We believe that most of the applications requiring Trueform Technology will be in: Research, Design, Product Development, Hardware Qualification, and Design Verification. It is less likely to find these applications in; Service, Installation, or Maintenance.

  • Dear all,

I appreciate the sentiments expressed, but please no more comment is needed as I didn;t take any personally. My judgment making personal circumstances public may have been somewhat clouded by emotion but I standby the intent.

What makes the element 14 community attractive to me is the civilized sharing of comment and opinion mostly of the profession that is also my hobby, but also many other topics.

The communication in the community, from what I can see is conducted in a friendly and courteous manner with the occasional water cooler type debate all in good humor.

The Road test program is an absolutely fantastic opportunity to trial the offered items, however as these trials to be of benefit to the community require a commitment in time and a balance of other commitments. Quick delivery of a review is not always possible. That being said it appears the trust placed by element 14 does appear to be occasionally abused.

My point is the life’s events sometimes impact reviewer and perhaps the management of reviews is best left to the team at Element 14.

From my point of view there is a moral obligation and for me a matter of conscience that if I commit to a task I deliver. I personally do not wish to jeopardize the road-test program.

    Regards

    Michael

  • Dear Michael, deepest condolences to you.

I wasn't expecting that like ... nevermind, i'll change my statements

  • Hey guys,

So I'm writing up the review this week, and should have it up ASAP. Although I did not have anything happen like Michael had happend, and my deepest condolences to him as well, he makes a good point with having a life out side of electronics. Between my college courses and my time spent at the fire academy this semester, I have not had as much time as I had hoped for this semester to work on anything besides what was required for the aforementioned obligations, and simply have not had a chance to sit down and write an appropriate review for the product. Again, sorry for the time to it is taking me to get it written up, but I simply have been too busy and was not anticipating this when I applied for the Road Test.

    Kyle

  • Dear Michael,

First of all my condolences to your father and grandmother passing. I can't imagine it is easy for anyone.

Please do not worry about the review, do it when you feel ready for that. I find it honorable that you wanted to bring it to the attention of the community, even when it is an enormous emotional load to take on.

Do not feel pressured about the roadtest, just let the test organizer know of the situation in general and it will all be fine.

My sincere apologies that you have received an additional burden from this, I'm sure it was never anyones intention.

You are honest and have nothing to explain for, keep strong!

    Regards,

  • Dear all,

I'd rather not post personal information as I don’t think it is at all dignified but has there has been some comments about delayed road tests I think I need to.

You can see I posted that I had unexpectedly received the Agilent 33522B on the 23rd of October.

To my great grief my father passed away on their 24th and I was interstate with my mother until the funeral on 2nd of Nov. On the day of the funeral my material grandmother passed away, meaning I had to travel back for this funeral as well.

This is too much information for group like this and maybe I am reacting in anger  but I think the members of the group need to moderate their comments about slow reviews and understand that some people have a life outside work and electronics.

I will post a full review within a matter of days

    Michael

  • Kyle - another way to get there is to log in, then use the New menu at the top of the screen.. select Road Test Review from the list. Let us know if you hit any problems.

    Matt.

  • Kyle -

You submit your RoadTest in the following manner -

If you look above at the list of "RoadTesters", you should be able to find your name - next to it will be a link that says "Write Review".  Click this, and write your review on the subsequent page.

Please ensure you fill in all the fields and be as thorough as possible.

    Many thanks.

  • Hi Joann,

Sorry I'm a little bit behind on turning in the review. I haven't had as much time as i would have liked due to some extra scheduleing they threw me into for one of my classes, and as a result, I honestly just forgot to post my wright up. Where exactly do I post it at? Is it just a comment here or else where? I'm still kind of new to the format of things around here.

  • Hi Joann,

    I too had a surprise.

I received an email from UPS showing road test / sample as the description.

I had applied for several road-tests, but nothing recently and searching the forums I was unable to find my name anywhere so I had no choice but to track the package as it made its way across the pacific and be patient.

The wait was rewarded with Agilent 33522B !

Thanks for the opportunity to put this product its paces. I'll be doing my best to give a through and balanced review, but I have to say after only 30 minutes of inspection the impression is already very positive.

    Regards

    Mike

  • Hi Joann,

When I came home this afternoon there was a large box on my front porch from Newark/Element 14.  I frequently place orders with Newark, but I knew I wasn't expecting any shipments.  To my utter surprise and great delight the shipping manifest said the box contained an Agilent 33522B waveform generator.  Now, I had applied for the Agilent 33522B road test, but your post of October 2 listed three winners and my name was not amung them.  Thus my delight and surprise at receiving this road test product.

I will proceed with the review I outlined in my road test application and report my findings to the Element 14 community.

Thank you for the opportunity to particiapte in this remarkable program.

    All the best,

    MA
