Description

The first starter kit in the Kria portfolio, the KV260 Vision AI Starter Kit is an out-ofthe-box platform for advanced vision application development. It is equipped with a non-production version of the production K26 SOM. This SOM and fansink are mounted to an evaluation carrier card optimized for vision applications, featuring multi-camera support via ON Semiconductor Imager Access System (IAS) and Raspberry Pi connectors. Enabled by a growing ecosystem of accelerated applications for the KV260 Vision AI Starter Kit, developers of all types can get applications up and running in under 1 hour, with no FPGA experience needed. From there, customization and differentiation can be added via preferred design environments, at any level of abstraction—from application software to AI model to FPGA design. With both hardware and software development requirements simplified, the KV260 Vision AI Starter Kit is the fastest and easiest platform for application development with the goal of volume deployment on Kria K26 SOMs.

I agree with the KR260. I also took my first steps with the KV260, it was hard for me to start working with it because everything was new to me and I had a serious problem working with Petalinux due to the poor internet connection at home. But in the end I managed to finish a project: Kria Kitchen ML Lifeguard - Hackster.io
I am now more confident with the entire Xilinx development environment.
A design challenge or experimentation with the KR260 would be great.

+1 for KR260.

Personally my interest is more towards video applications that use MGTs to transfer high bandwidth video from one device to another with low latency. Unfortunately the KV260 does not have the connector relevant to MGTs populated, while the KR260 does. KR260 also has a SFP cage that can be used to get started with MGTs out of the box. If the KR260 becomes available for review, I will definitely sign up as well!

Definitely an interesting and convenient kit with example demo apps out of the box. I have my own kit which I got a few months back in a competition on Hackster. Personally the key feature is that Ubuntu is supported officially. The Ubuntu system really made it very comfortable for me to use.

This is an interesting board, there are a few example projects on the web. I played around with one for a few months. I'll sign up if you get some KR260 Robotics kits to road test.

I'm interested in the Kria for different applications - I believe it supports that you can push hardware-implemented algorithms at run-time to this family. The Spartan-7 supports the "deploy hardware acceleration at runtime" too, but not the mechanism the Xilinx deploys for managing deploying it and rolling it out.
