Are you designing from scratch a USB PD 3.0 Power Supply? Save yourself some time and review the Reference Design Kit.
Description
The Power Integrations’ RDK-928 is a reference design kit for a 60W ultra-compact USB PD 3.0 charger for mobile phones and laptop computers. It has 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/3A, and 20V/3A outputs using the InnoSwitch4-CZ INN4073C, ClampZero CPZ1062M, and MinE-CAP MIN1072M. This design shows the high power-density and efficiency that’s possible due to the high level of integration and performance of the InnoSwitch4-CZ active clamp controller. It is paired with the input capacitor volume-reduction capabilities of the MinE-CAP IC.
Features
- Input voltage range from 90VAC - 265VAC, variable output: 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/3A, and 20V/3A
- InnoSwitch4-CZ active clamp flyback switcher IC with high-voltage PowiGaN switch(INN4073C)
- ClampZero active clamp IC (CPZ1062M), MinE-CAP bulk capacitor miniaturization IC (MIN1072M)
- Zero voltage switching in both CCM and DCM operating conditions
- All the benefits of secondary-side control with the simplicity of primary-side regulation
- Meets DOE6 and CoC v5 2016 efficiency requirement
- Output overvoltage and overcurrent protection
- Integrated thermal protection
- Less than 60mW no-load input power
- Compact design with high power-density: 30.3W/inch3 without enclosure (60W/44.95 X 44.95 X 16mm)
