Product Performed to Expectations

10

This shield work as I think before.

Load example and connect motor,battery the gear turn on.

Specifications were sufficient to design with

8

Look the features and specs below picture.

There are two points that can be improved.

1. Voltage and current

For most small DC motors it is enough.

But when we need control 48V motor it will not support.

2. PWM channel

This chip have three PWM channel and can be setting to control all 12 output.

Three is enough for 3-axis control but if we want more it will not support.

Demo Software was of good quality

10

The quality of example code is high. Every line have comment at the end.

================================================================================================

================================================================================================

Demo was easy to use

7

Although example code quality is high it only show how to control single-phase Induction Motors or LED.

Hope Infineon can update example for stepped motor and BLDC.

================================================================================================

Support materials were available

10

I saw some tester has problem with XMC1100 boot-kit. I am very lucky without problem.

================================================================================================

================================================================================================

The price to performance ratio was good

5

The invoice show both two boards is 50 USD. I don't know why it is so expensive.

I check with Infineon's web the chip is around 6 USD and add all component I guess it does not exceed 25 USD.

There have some mistake with the price.

  • Thank you Mark. Maybe a full "Z+" is the worth image

  • What is the ranking mechanism for "c"

    Grades are marked A, B, C, D  with A+, A- adding some more options.

    A is the highest and usually a C is below pass. I suspect D is maybe not even turning up.

  • Yes I see what you mean... I wonder how much of the problem may have been caused by language barrier issues, maybe not fully understanding what the product was or what was expected of them because English is not their native language and maybe they ran into difficulties as a result? But you'd think they could have contacted Randall and explained they were having issues and see if there was somebody available who would be able to mentor them, or posted up on here to ask for help and guidance. There's lots that could have been done to help somebody who was struggling to do their road test properly if they had asked.

    How does this review compare to what was proposed in the road test application? I struggle to see how E14 and Infineon would have selected this if it was the proposal.

    Considering that after reading every proposal also contact everyone of us by email and ask about the proposal, the idea, if it is feasable etc. I suppose that the enrollment was correct but then the tested derailed from the original promises/proposals.

    Yes, that's what I was getting at. I can't imagine that Randall or Infineon would have picked something like this if that was all that was proposed so they must have failed to deliver on their original application promises.

  • In the US a c means you showed up for class. image

  • (Bis) I should admit that this tester choice sounds strange if you see his profile (no info, no data, no images) and his content. He has already participated to the Music tech challenge in past and posted just a couple of blogs with the kit components. I think it is not needed to read Chinese to understand ...

  • Hi Rachael,

    I as astonished as you image but about the E14 choice

    How does this review compare to what was proposed in the road test application? I struggle to see how E14 and Infineon would have selected this if it was the proposal.

  • Hmmm, I saw this shortly after it was posted but refrained from posting up what I thought in case I was being too harsh. Having seen the other comments I guess I wasn't.

    Did you understand what you would be getting before you applied?

    As for your your comment on the cost, according to the link above it is £17.80.  That's not expensive for an evaluation board. They aren't high volume products and they cost more to make than just the component costs. The PCB isn't free nor is it assembled for free. Somebody had to design it too.

  • Sadly the sensation of this road test is that the tester has not tested nothing nor read one line of documentation of what it is. Just powered and launched the demo with one motor. End of game.

  • Sorry for the ignorance. What is the ranking mechanism for "c" ? I see always this at colleges in tv series but never known how it works image
