Detailed Review:

Finally, I received my IMO smart. Thanks to the good people of Element14 who helped out with the UPS debacle of import duties etc. To be fair, they are just following rules so not their fault either. Anyway, moving on.

It feels sturdy enough and then No manual or CD. I recall this product could be programmed by PC which means I was expecting a cable (also not there) and at least a CD or download link on a piece of paper for the software. This is something of a beef of mine with many products. If I order something, it does not always mean I know exactly how it works. In this case, I read there is the option to program thus I expect something of a manual explaining this. For some people this is obvious either because they have worked with similar systems before and know which software to use or at least have a good place to start, but last time I programmed ladder diagrams was 11 years ago and I can not yet even connect it to my PC.

This means, I have to look online and do some searching.

Lol, thanks to some other reviewers I finally found the manual for the unit and it appears there is a lot more to it then the 3 micro pages that come with the unit.

Cable and software have been found: http://uk.farnell.com/imo-precision-controls/smt-pc03/programming-cable/dp/1293075 but since I stick to my point that this should have come with the unit as included I am going to attempt to program it without.

This I wrote around the 7th of August and since then I have not had much time with loads of travel and all. I would like to clarify this.: When the road test was originally send out (before the delays in delivery) I would not say I had heaps of time but I was working with the dynamometer on a daily basis and had some students working along side me. But because of the delays and then holidays and then other projects etc etc whine, winch ;-) I just have not had any time to do this. But there is hope on the horizon and I will aim to complete the road test, but I need some more time.

Over the next few weeks, I have another attempt at finding time and installing the unit. but until then... bye
