Evaluation Type: Test Equipment

Did you receive all parts the manufacturer stated would be included in the package?: True

What other parts do you consider comparable to this product?: The device is suitable to have Carbon monoxide measurements and temperature monitoring in in-door. I see some features like Export data in CSV format, the readings recorded can be transferred to a computer, built-in 1500 mAh battery for mobile use in Carbon Monoxide Meter PCE-COG 10.

What were the biggest problems encountered?: It is difficult to monitor continuously at a environment by exposing to the toxic gasses and for analysis of CO increase or decrease the data should be recorded in SD card for human safety. A tripod mount is recommended for placing the device at he source point for continuous monitoring. If the USB port for data export and battery recharge option were provided then the roadtest kit will be more useful for the researchers.

Detailed Review:

Problem statement: Sources and Issues: The greatest sources of CO to outdoor air are cars, trucks and other vehicles or machinery that burn fossil fuels. A variety of items in our home such as unvented kerosene and gas space heaters, leaking chimneys and furnaces, Clothes dryers, Water heaters, furnaces or boilers, Fireplaces, both gas and wood burning and gas stoves also release CO and can affect air quality indoors. Carbon monoxide can occur naturally in the environment. It is released into the atmosphere by volcanoes as they erupt, from the smoke of forest fires, from the natural gases in coal mines, and even from lightning! Here is the statistics in source of CO emissions:

Carbon monoxide is attracted to haemoglobin over 200 times more strongly than oxygen. Therefore, in the blood, the presence of carbon monoxide prevents some of the hemoglobin found in red blood cells from carrying sufficient oxygen. CO can build up indoors and poison people and animals who breathe it. Carbon monoxide has no color, taste, smell or odor.

The below chat shows how the CO concentrations will impact human life.

Method to detect and reduce:

The best method of detection is to use a carbon monoxide detector in your home. A carbon monoxide detector is a device very similar to a smoke alarm. It monitors the air for carbon monoxide and sounds an alarm if a specific level is detected.

There is more research and hardware designing for monitoring and reducing the CO from air to keep air clean is going on. In this activity their a new and advanced devices/products are coming in market. In that case the roadtest is also going to present the product so called “Multicomp Pro MP780892 Air Quality Meter”. Which have the CO, Temperature sensors with more accurate measurement and calibration. It is not only monitoring the sensor data it can also give caution when the set limit is exceeding. It is easy to carry and monitor the CO, the battery power is also indicated on the display so that we can replace with new ones.

The Carbon monoxide can be reduced by placing proper vents, air purifiers and home plants like rubber plant, snake plant, aloe Vera, etc.

My Test Plan with Multicomp Pro MP780892 Air Quality Meter is as follows:

I would like to use the Multicomp Pro MP780892 Air Quality Meter in monitoring the air in different locations. I will use the roadtest product in my home to see how much CO is emitted and its effect in increasing the room temperature and humidity.

There are frequent forest fires happening in some locations so that I will record the emission of CO during the forest fire days. In agriculture farmers used to burn the stubble which is also creating more emissions of toxic gases with the roadtest device I create awareness by showing the values.  I will showcase the different option available on the Multicomp Pro MP780892 Air Quality Meter which are very much helpful to the community member to understand about its setting while using it in their premises. There are useful settings like alarm, max and min values, etc in the user manual which are explained in the video

Conclusions:

The roadtest product can be used in Continuous environment monitoring applications in:

  • Office buildings
  • Vehicles
  • Garages
  • Warehouses
  • Manufacturing Facilities
