I've blogged about it previously, so I'll paste in the list I collated:

£3 Digital Caliper; essential for designing your own 3D models! I've recently upgraded to the Duratool steel caliper and really like it; <a id="e14-product-link-e5431" data-at-areainteracted="rte-content" data-at-type="click" data-at-link-type="link" href="javascript:void(0)" data-at-label="PRODUCT_POPUP_OPEN"class="e14-embedded e14_shopping-cart-far e14-link" onclick="event.preventDefault();e14.func.displayProduct(e14.meta.user.country, this, 'embedded-link', e14.func.getProductLinkJSON('e5431'));" data-farnell="3263419" data-newark="" data-comoverride="" data-cmpoverride="" data-cpc="" data-avnetemea="" data-avnetema="" data-avnetasia="" >Duratool steel caliper

£5 3D Printer tool kit; there are multiple kits to choose from, but the trimming knife, scraper, cleaning needle, tweezers, and pliers deburring kit is more than enough IMO.

£6 Storage box (216x165x95mm); sure you could print one, but they're cheap, well built & have foam inserts. Great for storing all your accessories.

£3 Humidity sensors; for putting with your filament to warn you when the humidity is too high.

£7 Amazon Vacuum Bags and Hand Pump; for storing your filament away from moisture.

£3 Desiccant; orange reusable silica gel beads for keeping moisture away from your filament in storage. Allow 50g per spool. In v.sunny weather you can even dry them outdoors.

£50 Ikea Air purifier; in my tests it does a good job filtering PM2.5 particles. New filters are £5 each.

£6 Dust Cover; There are times that you won’t be using your 3D printer for a while, so a dust cover is a good investment for the A1 Mini (45x45x48cm).

It took about 20 minutes to set up and is very much plug-and-play. I've been using PLA for all my prints.. nothing more exotic than that, and have maybe had 2 failed prints in over 100.

For designing my own stuff I've used OnShape, and have loved how it all works in a browser, letting me jump from my laptop to my gaming PC to pick up where I left off.

RE: I am thinking to buy a 3d printer but my budget hangs around 200 dollars, i am a student and need it for small non-comlex designs

Your not going to get much for the 200$ but as said, just google "3d printers under 250$" I am worried that the heat from the Pi will cause the printed case to sag. I use metal cases for Raspberry Pi modules. If you want to use printed cases I would suggest using higher temperature plastic or at least a design that incorporates a good fan solution . There are lots of good looking case designs available on the net, and lots of places that will provide 3D printing services.

Ender 3 pro

I have had my ender for about a year now and I just replaced the z motor on it the wires are good but when I try to home the motor just humms and doesn't move then a home error shows on screen and says reset printer is it a software issue help

RE: Ender 3 pro

I had something similar. By any chance did you turn the motors while the priner was powered off but the motors were still connected to the mainboard? Because DC motors will become generators and send a charge back through the mainboard. There are no diodes to prevent this, because DC motors require flow of current both ways to turn both ways. If this is what has happened, the only fix is to replace the mainboard and make sure when you move the print bed or z carriage, the printer is powered on or the motors are NOT connected to the main board.

After writing this, I see that the thread is more than 2 years old. Probably forgotten or solved by now.

RE: I have an Ender 3 V2, but my bed and hotend temps sit prrox 15c higher than ambient... then dont heat

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
