DeepSeek is a nice achievement, just as Kimi K2, however the usability value of both are not even close to the western closed weights models. Every week counts, and the momentum is much greater for the closed weights model.

Thanks for the history. I only heard about deepseek when most others did, in 2025. Not surprised about the sensor ship (pun) “optimized answers” it provides I am interested in its better efficiency vs chatgpt. AI that can produce malware and keyloggers is scary, especially since it can get better with practice.

I use it. It is good. However, I still find ChatGPT more dependable.
