For startups in the process of developing their products and taking them onto the market, the mone...</description><dc:language>en-US</dc:language><generator>Telligent Community 12</generator><item><title>RE: Funding goals | Are Startups expecting too much too soon?</title><link>https://community.element14.com/technologies/businessofengineering/b/blog/posts/funding-goals-are-startups-expecting-too-much-too-soon</link><pubDate>Fri, 16 Dec 2016 18:43:12 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">93d5dcb4-84c2-446f-b2cb-99731719e767:744178c7-f1aa-4553-bf31-1df6438ea32c</guid><dc:creator>DAB</dc:creator><slash:comments>0</slash:comments><description>&lt;p&gt;Great post.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Start ups are always an interesting endeavor where you try to bound enthusiasm with engineering and business realities.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;That is one of the reason why venture capitalist are tough to get funding from.&amp;nbsp; They expect you to have a very well thought out plan so that they can see a low risk return on investment.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;These crowd funded developments are very risky, but by limiting the investment by each individual, the risk is bounded for each contributor.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It would be very interesting to see the statistics on both types of projects to see if the success/failure rate is different.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;No matter how you look at it, a new project is always risky.&amp;nbsp; I never finished a development effort where I did not wish I could start over and do it better with the knowledge I gained.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;DAB&lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.element14.com/aggbug?PostID=2326&amp;AppID=96&amp;AppType=Weblog&amp;ContentType=0" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
