Being disabled, I actually like the idea of a self driving vehicle.

Self driving trucks are a mixed bag, especially the big semi's. Whenever you have 100,000 pounds of payload running at highway speeds, you have a large potential pile driver into traffic.

As with anything, time will tell if the technology is ready for adoption.

I personally would not want to face the teamsters union when they realize that jobs will be lost. I can imagine that there will be sabotage issues if that is the case.

I can envision that autonomous vehicles could make traffic safer as they can be programmed to actually follow traffic laws.

The biggest problem will be bad drivers interacting with the vehicles by erratic movements, which could confuse the AI program into an unfortunate vehicle correction cycle.

As the old Chinese curse says "May you live in interesting times!"
