What is the best programming language for making an app that has to be listening/writing to an esp32-s3 running linux?

Hi friends!

I have tried that to run linux on esp32 and I thought that I could go further.

So I thought: "Why if I design an app that can use my Pc processor and esp32-s3 processor too?"

And I tried with a simple app as MIT AppInventor but it doesn't work very well.

That's why I'm here for asking you.

I hope you can help me...

Thanks,

The best language is usually the one you are most familiar with.

A lot of this depends on what you're trying to do and how you intend to comunicate between the PC and ESP32-S3.

I'll also second what DougW said that whatever language you're familiar with will probably work best.

What do you call "an app"?

I'm serious because that very definition will surely limit what tool you can/should use to create it.

Is it a native application to run on an Android phone/tablet?

Is it a native application to run on an iOS phone/tablet?

Is it a native application run on your favorite OS? Linux/Windows/Mac all have different requirements

Is it something that runs inside a web browser? Chromium based, Firefox, Safari or all of them?

Should it have a graphical frontend or should a command line tool be enough?

And finally, as already said, the communication medium would be a key factor as well. How do you intend the PC to communicate with the ESP32? Directly via Serial over USB? Directly via Serial over Bluetooth? Directly via adhoc Wifi?

So many questions to ask, but in the end, dougw is right, the best language is the one you are familiar with.

I think you should ask Clem for his ideas.
