Farnell element14 hat angekündigt, die Keysights TrueVolt-Reihe von Digital-Multimetern um die Modelle 34465A und 34470A zu erweitern. Die Multimeter bieten ein breites Spektrum an Messmöglichkeiten bezüglich Genauigkeit, Geschwindigkeit und Auflösung, sowohl für 6½- als auch für 7½-stellige Modelle.

Die neuen Modelle bieten Ingenieuren eine große Auswahl an Möglichkeiten, Messergebnisse auf verschiedene Arten visuell darzustellen. Auf dem hochauflösenden 4,3‘‘ Farbdisplay können außerdem erweiterte Grafikdarstellungen wie Trend-Charts und Histogramme angezeigt werden. So erhalten Ingenieure relevante Informationen schneller und können sie einfacher dokumentieren.

Die Modelle sind ab einem Preis von 1073,00 € erhältlich und bieten beide drei verschiedene Erfassungsmodi: kontinuierlicher Betrieb für klassische Messungen, Messdatenerfassung für eine vereinfachte Trendanalyse und digitale Darstellung, um Transienten erfassen zu können.

Beide Geräte verfügen über einen erweiterten Speicher, der zwischen 50.000 und 2 Millionen Messwerte pro Sekunde erfassen kann. Außerdem messen sie auch sehr niedrige Stromstärken, die im Bereich von 1µA mit pA-Auflösung liegen und über eine Spannungsreichweite von 100mV bis 1000V verfügen. Die neuen Modelle bieten zudem eine automatische Kalibrierung bei Temperaturschwankungen.

Die TrueVolt-Reihe nutzt die patentierte A/D-Wandler-Technologie, um Rauschen – z.B. das Rauschen durch die Stromversorgung oder andere externe Faktoren wie elektromagnetische Interferenz – vom tatsächlichen Messwert auszuschließen.

Alle beiden Modelle verfügen über drei verschiedene Erfassungsmodi: Dauerbetrieb für typische Messungen, Messdatenerfassung für eine vereinfachte Trendanalyse und eine digitalisierte Erfassung, um Transienten festzuhalten. Zu den neuen Leistungsmerkmalen gehören außerdem zusätzliche Mess- und Mathematikfunktionen, umfangreichere Messbereiche und eine erweiterte Bedienbarkeit.

Die automatische Kalibrierung gleicht Temperaturschwankungen aus und erlaubt dem Anwender, während des gesamten Arbeitsvorgangs eine hohe Messgenauigkeit beizubehalten. Beide Modelle besitzen außerdem einen Modus zur Datenerfassung für eine vereinfachte Trendanalyse und eine digitale Darstellung zur Erfassung von Transienten.

Die Keysight.Modelle TrueVolt 34456A und 34470A sind ab sofort bei Newark element14 (für Nordamerika), bei Farnell element14 (für Europa) und bei element14 (für den APAC-Raum) verfügbar.

Farnell element14 hat sein Angebotsspektrum der Federfinger von TE erweitert. Diese einzelnen, oberflächenmontierbaren internen Steckverbinder können vielseitig auf Leiterplatten eingesetzt werden. Das Sortiment wurde um eine Vielzahl von Bauformen, Größen und Materialien erweitert, um den Wünschen aller Kunden zu entsprechen.

Federfinger (auch bekannt als Abschirmfinger, Erdungsfedern oder universelle Erdungskontakte) werden als Antennenzuleitung, Schwachstromverbindungen oder als Erdung gegen EMI-Rauschen und statische Aufladung, die durch Lautsprecher, Motoren, Mikrofone oder andere Vibrationsquellen ausgelöst werden, eingesetzt.

Sie sind auf ganzen Rollen und in Größen von 1 mm bis hin zu 4,3 mm erhältlich. Insbesondere durch die Preisstaffelung bei großen Produktionsmengen sind die Federfinger von TE eine kostengünstige Lösung für Antennenzuleitungen aller Art.

V –Lock: Expanding standard range with Hospital Grade cordsets in white

SCHURTER expands on its standard range of V-Lock power cords to include two types designed to ensure patient safety in critical medical

and dental applications. The plug end of the cordset is stamped with a green dot, indicating that it meets the rigors of UL 817 testing.

The solid pin construction and extra- safe wiring are visible through the plug’s transparent material.

The V-Lock system is an already proven design for safe and reliable power connections, protecting against accidental disconnection of the power cord from the equipment. The cord connector has a lever that latches into a notched power inlet. It is removed from the inlet when the lever is depressed and the catch mechanism released. The make-first and break-last design of the ground contact is inherent to its safe design.

The detachable hospital grade power cords are offered with EN/IEC 60320 C13 and C19, 13 A and 15 A respectively, cord connectors on the equipment end, and NEMA 5-15 on the plug end. The power cord cable is white and measures 10 feet, or 3 meters, in length. The new power cords are compatible with a host of SCHURTER C14 and C20 style appliance couplers and power entry modules, including the most popular types used in medical applications.

How does USB 3.0 achieve the extra performance?

There are basically two technical changes are done for the extra performance of USB 3.0 :

1. Additional physical bus that is added in parallel with the existing USB 2.0 bus. This means that where USB 2.0 previously had 4 wires (power, ground, and a pair for differential data), USB 3.0 adds 4 more for two pairs of differential signals (receive and transmit) for a combined total of 8 connections in the connectors and cabling.

2. The signaling method is now asynchronous instead of polling. USB 3.0 utilizes a bi-directional data interface rather than USB 2.0's half-duplex arrangement, where data can only flow in one direction at a time.

Initially, USB provided two speeds (1.5 Mb/s and 12 Mb/s). As PCs became increasingly powerful and able to process larger amounts of data, users needed to get more and more data into and out their PCs. This led to the definition of USB 2.0 specification to provide a transfer rate of 480 Mb/s while retaining backward compatibility.

As technology innovation marches forward, new kinds of devices, media formats, and large inexpensive storage are converging. They require significantly more bus bandwidth to maintain the interactive experience users have come to expect. In addition, user applications demand a higher performance connection between the PC and these increasingly sophisticated peripherals. USB 3.0 SuperSpeed addresses this need by adding an even higher transfer rate to match these new usage and devices.

Molex Introduces High Performance LC2+ Metallic Optical Connector for Harsh Environments

LISLE, Ill. Molex Incorporated announced today the release of the new LC2+ optical interconnect product line. The latest offering by Molex for high-density harsh environment optical applications, the LC2+ optical interconnect is a metal connector body and latch version of the popular LC connector system. It provides an enhanced latch retention system and a specific high temperature strain relief boot that works in conjunction with the latest high temperature enhanced performance (EP) aerospace grade fiber optic cables and sealing features to protect from moisture propagation going through the connector to expensive active devices.

“Molex’s LC2+ connectors have a ruggedized, all-metal-connector housing making them ideal for use in industries that operate under harsh conditions, including industrial, military, medical, aviation and aerospace,” said Mark Matuszewski, product manager, Molex. “The LC2+ connector’s unique features make further improvements by providing a high-performance discrete fiber solution intended for use in the most rigorous operating environments such as high temperature, severe shock and vibration as well as exposure to high moisture situations.”

The LC2+ system, which will be displayed at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition (OFC) and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC), booth #2021, March 23-25, is fully compatible with all LC form factor connectors, adapters, active devices and tooling. The optical simplex and duplex connectors are available for multi-mode, single mode and APC applications. In addition, the LC2+ interconnects from Molex can incorporate Polymicro Technologies’ large core specialty fibers, giving optical system designers a complete solution to connect large core optical fibers used for data, sensing and optical power transmission.

Overview

The Renesas Starter Kit for M32C/87 is intended as a user-friendly introductory and evaluation tool for the M32C/87 microcontroller. The board also provides a useful platform for evaluating the Renesas suite of development tools for coding and debugging, using High-performance Embedded Workshop as well as programming the device using E8a emulator and/or Flash Development Toolkit.

The Renesas Starter Kit for M32C/87 may be connected to the host PC using a simple RS232 serial connection (not normally fitted) or via the included USB E8a on chip debugging interface.

The purpose of the board is to enable the user to evaluate the capabilities of the device and its peripherals by giving the user a simple platform on which code can be run only minutes from opening box. It can also prove an invaluable tool in development by providing a useful test platform for code already debugged using one of our more powerful emulation tools.
