Oh I have this self destructible chip, I have only one copy of this 1 year of research data, very important data which I'm going to discuss within a group of people a secret meeting.. Here I have this chip sitting on the table and suddenly I accidently put my hot coffee cup on it.. Bammm..
My point is, they need to come up with some other idea than the "rising temperature and shattering stuff".. No offence but Hey I can do that better at my home.. try to come up with something innovative with those expensive machines, research & Testing devices..

Well it is an interesting way to prevent reverse engineering.

It depends upon how it detects that the device is being hacked or not.
