Introduction
While browsing the Internet, I came across one interesting FPGA board. The board has a GW1NSR-LV4C FPGA chip from the Chinese company GoWin Semiconductor Corp, this company was founded in 2014. The headquarters and main developme...

RE: Sipeed Lichee Tang Nano 4K Gowin FPGA - Board review.

For any experimenter just starting out on FPGA development this can be a difficult board to connect to your computers USB output to programme.

After many failed attempts on Windows OS I finally used an RPi 4 and LushayLabs open FPGA environment which can be setup on Visual Studio Code. After a great deal of problems I have finally got the Tang Nano 9k to load. It appears that the tang Nano appreciates being plugged into a powered USB hub after which OPENFPGALOADER found the device and programmed it with led counter example. It's taken me a year to track this down so I hope it can help others.

RE: Sipeed Lichee Tang Nano 4K Gowin FPGA - Board review.

You can get this board and its siblings from Aliexpress:

www.aliexpress.com/.../1005003152104886.html

The bundles of the Nano 9k with LCD look attractive, as well as the plain board.

The FPGA on the 4k is interesting in that it is the cheapest fpga based SOC available. It's a Cortex M3 with a real FPGA.

Gowin's documentation can be a bit lacking - you may need to plough through a lot of stuff, and even reverse engineer example code, to get to (for example) the internal connections of FPGA to built in RAM.

SInce it so hard to get parts and X seem to have given up on low cost parts it's probably wirth the effort.

That's a very interesting board for the price.
