I have had this battery for about a year and it is not particularly healthy.

Time for a new alternator or at least the regulator.

Ordinarily it should be developing 14.2v or more at above idle in order to recharge it.

The Bosch S5 is a calcium they require the extra voltage to energise the chemical reaction, and they require a special charger.

You could prove the alternator by loading the electrics and seeing if the voltage holds.

It could also be a poor connection from the alternator to the battery. In many cases the alternator feeds directly to the starter.

Many regulators actually receive a reference voltage thru the dashboard lamp, so if there is a poor connection it could be thais that causes a poor reference voltage.

The good news is that it is a 36 month replacement warranty, but the bad news is it seems many have died.

This could be because the vehicle has a lower voltage regulator and is more suited to the lead acid type batteries.

Just as warnig to anyone that does flatten a Calcium battery.

If you think a jumper start and a run down the road for an hour or so will recharge it ... think again.

Without the extra voltage pulse that chargers suitable for calcium batteries give, you'll be in the same boat when you arrive at your destination ... still flat.

Nice post.

I had not thought of using a meter like this using Wifi, but with 100 meters range, I can think of several useful applications where I could use the data collection capability to stream data to a larger data collection and storage system.
