This is very cool. Does it deliver a candy even if no one is nearby? Or does it somehow sense someone is nearby who could be the person who issued the like?

That's an utterly superb idea! You've got a hot product right there. It ties in perfectly to the way modern social marketing works -- very much along the "free to play" model. And I don't know of any business that wouldn't happily part with a penny sweet in exchange for a Facebook like!
