Perhaps there is a better category where it will receive more views ?

So will AI create jobs... sure but the 3 you have there are skilled jobs, Robots based on the above descriptions will be replacing Manual / Dangerous jobs and the skills required for the replacement jobs may not be attainable by the people they replace ?, so what to do with these people, over time things may get better as younger folks will be trained from school age to work and develop Robots and AI, in the short term this progress will create a lot of displacement if were not careful.

It is inevitable though, it just needs more thought and planning as to what will the robots and AI be replacing in the Human world and will those Humans be re-trainable with these much more technical or phyc/Soc related skills

RE: AI will create jobs, not stealing them

I tend to agree with your supposition: AI will create more jobs. (Not sure about stealing, though.) But I'd give it a twist: AI will create new jobs that require different skills.

I think more robots are a forgone conclusion. I read a story in the New York Times regarding robots being used in the mining industry. One big advantage of this is that one does not need to worry air flow and ventilation. The robot operators are in a control room avoiding the environmental impacts of mining (black lung disease).

But, the tech industry has done a very poor job at communicating the change.

And government has not prepared people when 50% of work will be done by robots and automation.

This is what the tech industry needs to focus on. Without the citizenry and the government buying into AI, and understanding it, the ramp up to AI will be a long and winding road.

Randall
