I perused the Newark Canadian site and came up with the following:

TIP142 @ $3.26

BDX33CG is a back order but a BDX33C is the cheapest at $1.25.

BDV65BG is no longer available

BVG67B is $5.00

I would like to go with the cheapest BDX33C. What am I losing by dropping the G suffix?

RE: Replacement alternative to an NTE263 power transistor

I think the TIP142 could be a good replacement.

RE: Replacement alternative to an NTE263 power transistor

Actually, now that I've dug a bit further, I'd probably recommend the BDX33CG - that's got a TO-220 package and in stock in element14 UK (https://au.element14.com/multicomp/bdx33c/darlington-transistor-to-220/dp/9294090). Seems to be a drop-in replacement from what I can tell.

But I'm not sure what package your NTE263 is in ... but if it is a TO-220, then these would be larger TO-247 packages which may mean some creative leg-bending or mounting requirements.
