We recently read through the OSHW 1.0 spec and we aren't able to meet the requirements with the Bahbot controller. We designed the bahbot controller before the spec was finalized and we used commercial products for the design and manufacturing process so the source files are proprietary. To meet the licensing requirements, it helps significantly to go into a product design with the intention of being open source.

We have no issues with open source hardware and will consider it for future products. For anyone interested in how the bahbot hardware works, the full schematic is included in the user guide

http://www.wrighthobbies.net/download/Bahbots-1284P-xBeeSD_UserGuide-v1.0.pdf

Thanks,

Eddy Wright

Wright Hobbies Robotics

http://www.wrighthobbies.net

eddy@wrighthobbies.com

RE: Heddatron, a robotic play and the tech behind it

Is the hardware Open Source?

I couldn't find anything about the Bahbot controller at http://www.wrighthobbies.net/products/bahbots/index.htm which said that it is, and I couldn't find any of the downloads I would expect.

RE: Heddatron, a robotic play and the tech behind it

Nice coverage--linking the art with the technology.
