I learned Allegro first, so that one seems most natural to me, even though I gather it's the least intuitive of the major packages.

In some ways I find Eagle easier.

I think Eagle has an undeserved name as not a serious package. When you tell people you did a board in Eagle, they sometimes act like you said it wasn't a serious project. I see no logical reason to think that way. That attitude is slowly disappearing.

Hi Dave,

Good blog. I have been thinking about taking some time to learn Eagle, so I am encouraged by your report.

A friend of mine uses the software and he also had good things to say about it, so I am interested in getting a copy to play with.

If I take the plunge, I will blog my experiences so that other newbies can see what I discover as a new user.
