And it's great that there is no shortage of them.

I had ordered a Raytac MDBT42Q-U512KV2 module that uses an nRF52832. I got that one because it also had a U.FL antenna connector and also exposed more pins - but at a user unfriendly 0.7 mm spacing. Unfortunately, I never got to try it as it was damaged in shipment and was no longer available when I tried to get a replacement. I hate when they use those padded envelopes for shipping...

That module cost $9.90. Since these are only $2, I decided to order a handful to justify the shipping cost.

Thanks for sharing!

RE: Easy, Cost-Effective Bluetooth LE (BLE) with Dialog DA14531MOD

I will not tell you how much we spent in the 1980's to develop RF modules for various radios need for avionics.

Combining functions into what you now call SDR was a huge challenge, but I am gratified to see how simple modules like these enable all of the modern RF communications and data circuits.

What a difference a few decades make.

RE: Easy, Cost-Effective Bluetooth LE (BLE) with Dialog DA14531MOD

Neat to see Dialog has designed this part to operate off a silver oxide battery, very cool!

The Infineon XMC 2Go board is about £5 / $6USD, and can be easily modified into an incredibly tiny J-Link SWD debugger : ) I tested it, and it works.

I've added the information to the blog post.

RE: Easy, Cost-Effective Bluetooth LE (BLE) with Dialog DA14531MOD

Great Blog/Tutorial! Lots of great information in here. i will have to consider this option as I look to find other currently available microprocessor options. It might make sense to include BLE options in some of my products, and this looks like an affordable way to do that.

Thanks for the great information!

RE: Easy, Cost-Effective Bluetooth LE (BLE) with Dialog DA14531MOD

Thanks for sharing. Wow, that's a great price and it's available!

As you say, this module has a compact footprint (uSD card size) with generous 1.5 mm spaced connections. Useful that. But, as you say, there are not a lot of pins.

In those cases I see this as a peripheral module to your core microcontroller application. I see they offer some sort of AT command set... they call it SmartBond[emoticon:7d377b609b6f44bf9290e3d8a0b9a733] - CodeLess[emoticon:7d377b609b6f44bf9290e3d8a0b9a733] AT Commands

Did you try this at all? Looks quite useful and would avoid the hassle of programmers and SDK's etc.
