The project is low power and low voltage, and requires a low voltage source which can be derived from a mains transformer. However there are significant risks with building mains powered projects. For that reason, it

RE: Building a Linear Power Supply Module

Hello Shabaz,

Thanks for going to th trouble of posting all this.

I have two questions,

1) what is R8, C15 path for ?

2) why schottky diodes in the rectifier, I've always felt that they are less rugged than simple low speed rectifier diodes and more likely to cause hf problems - although now I think about it I haven't got any hard evidence to prove it.

MK

RE: Building a Linear Power Supply Module

Hello my name is John and I am new on Element 14,

This linear power supply has my attention to use with various devices.

How can the PCB be purchased, to support a build.

John

RE: Building a Linear Power Supply Module

Great project and write up, look forward to seeing it finished.

RE: Building a Linear Power Supply Module

Hi Shabaz,

This is a very nice power supply. I like the circular arrangement of the capacitors around the bridge. I am not sure if there is any advantage but the aesthetics are great. While it probably isn't needed for a small mA supply like this, did you ever experiment with using MOSFETs and the LT 4320 for rectification? I have one final question. How do you find time for all these really great projects? I am retired and have all the time in the world and even if I applied myself I would not be able to keep up with you. Keep up the great work. [View:/resized-image/__size/16x16/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-5f0c5678-dbca-4300-9831-f2aa0ad27d53/contentimage_5F00_1.png:16:16]

John

RE: Building a Linear Power Supply Module

Nice idea.

It's been such a long time since I've built analogue supplies.

Mark
