&lt;p class="large" style="margin:0;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Source:&amp;nbsp; &lt;/strong&gt;News from &lt;strong&gt;TDK Electronics Europe.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="large" style="margin:0;padding:0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="large" style="margin:0;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;TDK Electronics Europe has introduced the AVF26BA12A400R201, a miniature chip varistor that uses a ball grid array (BGA) terminal arrangement to reduce board mounting area by 33 per cent. &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="large" style="margin:0;padding:0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="large" style="margin:0;padding:0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;Although just 2.6mm x 2.6mm x 0.65mm, the AVF26BA12A400R201 offers &lt;span class="active_link"&gt;electrostatic discharge&lt;/span&gt; (ESD) counter-measures and an &lt;span class="active_link"&gt;electromagnetic interference&lt;/span&gt; (EMI) filter function.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;padding:0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="bannerad"&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;Each chip contains 30 elements and can be used to create 10-line ESD counter-measures.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;The &lt;span class="active_link"&gt;capacitance&lt;/span&gt; value of the chip is 40pF at 1MHz.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;padding:0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;The device is 33 per cent smaller than previous generations of TDK chip &lt;span class="active_link"&gt;varistors&lt;/span&gt;, and because of its integrated &lt;span class="active_link"&gt;EMI filtering&lt;/span&gt; capability it provides further space savings by eliminating the requirement for separate EMI counter-measure components.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;The AVF26BA12A400R201 is sampling now, with volume production scheduled to begin in the second half of 2009.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
