Introduction
There was a recent discussion regarding thoughts on a circuit for charging NiMH batteries

RE: Building a Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) Charger

Nice project.

I have not seen NIMH batteries used in a while.

RE: Building a Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) Charger

Very interesting project. I still use NiMH batteries to power products to AA and AAA batteries. I have been using Panasonic eneloop batteries (AA1500mAh) almost exclusively. I might have to look into your design in the future. Thanks for sharing!

RE: Building a Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) Charger

Just got these today, I'm glad they are still manufactured since probably a lot of old equipment may still be in service.

The printing on the battery on the right indicates the 0.1C rate for charging for 16 hours.

However, I plan on building the charger (Type 2 board) configured for 4 x AA (with no battery holder, they will be charged via a connector as a series 4.8V pack; I wouldn't try that with Lithium-Ion, but I believe it is lower-risk with NiMH, at that 0.1C rate).

These were the largest capacity long-retention cells I could find at a sensible price (although there are 2800 mAh batteries, they cost twice as much).
