Engineers working for Tesla are aiming to change that. They claim to have developed ba

RE: Tesla’s new battery could power vehicles for up to a million miles

It is a little remembered aspect of batteries, or perhaps little known, that environmental conditions and the number of charge cycles have big impacts on the capability of rechargeable batteries to hold their charge and to be recharged. I didn't really understand much about batteries until I first of all tried to design an experiment to measure the discharge characteristic of a battery (there are so many variables) and secondly to design a low cost, very low power battery powered LED flasher for an advertising plague make of Perspex (I managed two years unbroken operation before I had to turn it off - so I could retire). Once you start with recharging then the complexity just mushrooms. Still, I do have high hopes that future battery technologies will achieve a step-increase in performance and cost-effectiveness.

Dubbie

RE: Tesla’s new battery could power vehicles for up to a million miles

Very interesting, battery technology is certainly moving forward at a fair pace. This is also spilling over into power generation for storage to respond to fast frequency responses.

Kind regards.

RE: Tesla’s new battery could power vehicles for up to a million miles

I need these now[View:/resized-image/__size/16x16/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-9702e1b2-f7bd-4463-a924-bd11d9b1807a/contentimage_5F00_938.png:16:16]
