What i will be changing in the diagram is the transformer and rectifier and i will be changing the tip31ag to a 2n3055 npn waiting on the heat sink for the 3055. Also I am thinking of using the ATX as a secondary supply and powering the Op amps of the rails of that supply so that i dons't push the op amps so close to the max V. But that part is still on the idea board.

RE: The Modular Bench Power Supply ++, The Essential DIY Build for Every EE Student and Old Timer alike...

Hello Sir i know this forum post is rather old and i hope someone still views it that may be able to help me. i have the circuit mocked up on my bread board and for the most part it is working except it seems that i don't have the proper current control and on both my pots it seems that all my control is in the very first 1/4 of the pots. my input power is from a 12v atx supply so my max output is only around 8.4 volts. the pots are very sensitive in that first 1/4 of the turn except for the current pot which dosn't seem to work correctly i was hoping some one could look at my diagram and see if I have something incorrect. don't pay attention to the bridge rectifier. part of the diagram its not implemented yet. [View:/resized-image/__size/1181x833/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-40ad0f40-2bdc-4538-9010-23c386aca087/contentimage_5F00_179136.png:1181:833]

RE: The Modular Bench Power Supply ++, The Essential DIY Build for Every EE Student and Old Timer alike...

Very interesting project.

RE: The Modular Bench Power Supply ++, The Essential DIY Build for Every EE Student and Old Timer alike...

USCDADNYC here again. Ack that this project will be considered a "Series-Pass(?)" PSU w/ elements of Switching PS modules/components. In your first video "Power Supply Pt 1 -Intro". you alluded to using Toroids instead of Transformers, that was a Clue that was misread by me. Sorry. AAR I look forward to viewing your Lectures/Videos. I am Not a practising EE but an IT/Patent-Atty. One who is always looking for Prior Art. Prior Art is term of "Art" (sorry about the Pun) that describes the State of the Art (Sorry about the Pun again) of the field of endeavor. IDK (I Don't Know) anything about British Patent Law/System, but most" First-World" Countries' Patent Systems has their roots in Prior Art. I believe India (definitely NOT a 1st world country) does NOT. I guess when they went Independent (of the Crown) in 1949(?) they went "Off the Reservation" so to speak in terms of IP Law.

RE: The Modular Bench Power Supply ++, The Essential DIY Build for Every EE Student and Old Timer alike...

USCDADNYC (Edward L. I have a few questions, first in your original plans you only use a single dual op amp but the revised which i am have difficulty understanding uses 4 op amps 2 for voltage control and 2 for the adjusting.? two if at all possible do i have to install the second set of op amps for this supply to work? i am currently to the build stage when looking back through i seen the updates plans i was like sun of a gun. if i need to build the second set of op amps thats ok i have a lm3224n ill use. third any chance you can post the revised plans but in the same format as original? sorry if that is a stupid request but for some reason im having a heck of a time reading it. Thank you.

RE: The Modular Bench Power Supply ++, The Essential DIY Build for Every EE Student and Old Timer alike...

Thanks for a great series.
