For the UK, I used the local B&amp;amp;Q garden centre, they have outdoor treated wood posts (for fences I suppose) that are about 90mm square cross-section (I only do metric : ). That made the legs, and and a load of hex nuts/bolts helped hold it all together, and for the top a combination of plywood for strength and&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;covered with wood for finish.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Mine was for the garage so it was smaller than the size of your bench though.
