Your iron may be controlling based on temperature further back up the shaft, and not close to the tip, so it is probable that the heater may well be at a higher temperature than the tip. I&#39;m just speculating though.</p><p>Thanks for the write-up, this is a much more cost-effective way to measure, for at least good comparison when tips or the whole iron is changed.</p><img src="https://community.element14.com/aggbug?PostID=22014&AppID=13&AppType=Weblog&ContentType=0" width="1" height="1">
