A few weeks ago I spotted the launch promotion of the FNIRSI DLA Logic Analyser. It’s a low-cost USB Logic Analyser offered in two versions, DLA16 and DLA32 Plus. They are currently offering the DLA16 Plus at $159 and the DLA32 Plu...

RE: FNIRSI Logic Analyzer Review

I still use an FPGA board, with a home-brew front end, as analyzer. Since 2014 [emoticon:3aaf978fa2e04146945d0eeaebd548f0].

If it is doable to trigger on one line, or on a data signature, and it can translate SPI, I2C, UART (and maybe CAN) I'd be happy.

On the surface it looks nice and has some interesting capabilities, but if the software is not there to support it. Then it is a pass.

RE: FNIRSI Logic Analyzer Review

Sometimes, certain tools allow you to export data as CSV, which makes it possible to import it into software such as PulseView. I also saw an announcement for the Sipeed SLogic 32U3, but I'm not sure whether it's available for regular purchase yet. They use software similar to PulseView called SLogicView, and they have also recently started using ngscopeclient.

RE: FNIRSI Logic Analyzer Review

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the review! The large memory is really tempting. I have a Kingst LA5016 which I like, but wish had a bit more memory.

I did see some project to create new software for the FNIRSI LA, but I cannot find it. I don't know how good/bad that might be.

Incidentally, I too was stuck requiring a particular decode, but in the end saved as a binary file, then requested AI to write Python code to decode it. Not as ideal of course.

One other thing.. I believe it could be possible to request AI to convert from binary file to Wireshark format, then a nicer view is available for browsing through the data.

Taking that to the next level, I hope someone takes the entire Wireshark project source code, strips it, and then uses it as a basis for decent logic analyzer software, since Wireshark has an excellent view of bytes and then the higher-layer decode. It is just missing the time-domain view. Anyway, that needs more thought, it is so far just a vague idea.
